Request Union County Court Case Records

Union County court case records begin with a case number and the right clerk. The clerk’s file holds the docket, public filings, orders, and judgments for a case. Not every court shares one office. Circuit, probate, and District Court files each sit with a different clerk. The statewide case portal can point you toward a record, but the clerk confirms what exists and issues the official version. Decide early whether an informational copy will do or a certified copy is required, since that choice shapes the whole request.

Union County Court Record Requests

Begin with Search ARCourts. The free portal gives the case number, court, filing date, and exact docket entry. Some public documents link right from the results. The portal itself is informational, not official. From there, the court type decides the clerk. Circuit criminal, civil, domestic-relations, and juvenile records belong to the Union County Circuit Clerk. Probate, small-estate, guardianship, commitment, and adoption files go to the County/Probate Clerk. Misdemeanor, traffic, small claims, and limited civil cases are filed in District Court. The District Court Clerk holds those files.

Each clerk serves visitors in person, and phone contact is available. The Circuit Clerk publishes an email address. The Probate Clerk adds email and fax. Publishing a fax or email does not mean the clerk accepts copy orders that way. Union County publishes no mail instructions. No online certified-copy checkout, drop-box method, or identification checklist appears for these requests. Ask before sending personal data, payment, or a mailed request anywhere.

  1. Identify the court, case number, party, and exact record or docket date.
  2. Check Search ARCourts for a public docket and any available document link.
  3. Contact the Circuit, Probate, or District Court clerk that holds the file.
  4. Ask about access limits, page count, copy type, price, payment, and delivery.
  5. Submit through the method the clerk confirms, then retain the certification and receipt.

Union County Court Record Layers

A Union County court record can mean three different things. The docket is a dated index of case activity. A filed document is the complaint, answer, motion, order, or judgment behind an entry. A certified copy is the clerk-authenticated version. You need it when official proof is required. A portal printout does not become certified just because it shows a court heading. A case number alone does not make it official.

Record LayerWhat It ProvidesBest Source

Filed documentThe text or image behind a pleading, motion, order, or judgmentPublic link when present, otherwise the clerk

Search ARCourts does not attach a PDF to every filing. When a line has no image, write down the date, sequence, code, and description. With those details, the clerk can pull the exact item without guessing.

Kinds of Court Records

Union County court case records span several courts and subject areas. The record type tells you which office to ask. A probate file sent to the Circuit Clerk, or a District Court small claim sent to the Probate Clerk, will stall even though the case arose in Union County.

  • Circuit civil and criminal case files, dockets, orders, and judgments
  • Domestic-relations records, subject to Arkansas access restrictions
  • District Court traffic, misdemeanor, limited civil, and small-claims records
  • Probate, small-estate, guardianship, commitment, and adoption records
  • Transcripts prepared through the assigned court reporter rather than the clerk
  • Exhibits, whose retention and access require case-specific confirmation

Transcripts are separate from docket sheets. A docket may show that a hearing occurred, yet reproduce none of the testimony. Once you know the assigned judge, check the Judiciary’s current court-reporter directory. Exhibits may have been returned, retained, restricted, or sealed. Never assume they are on hand.

Union County Court Record Custodians

Union County splits clerk duties three ways. The Circuit Clerk keeps most Circuit Court case records and prepares the dockets. The County Clerk also serves expressly as Probate Clerk. The District Court Clerk maintains the countywide lower-court docket at the El Dorado Department. Check the court named on your notice, citation, or case header first. It is the fastest clue to custody.

Court Records: What They Contain

A Union County court case file is broader than its docket. The public case header may give you the number, title, type, filing date, court, and location. It may add judge, status, and participants. Their roles may appear too. The chronological register adds entry sequence, codes, text, and filing dates. The underlying file may hold pleadings and signed rulings. Access still depends on whether the material is public and whether an electronic image exists.

Case NumberThe court-assigned identifier used to locate and request the record.
PleadingsComplaints, petitions, answers, motions, and other party filings that are public.
Orders & JudgmentsSigned directions and formal determinations entered by the court.
Docket SheetThe dated sequence of filings, events, codes, text, and case actions.
EventsPast or future hearings with date, time, type, and sequence when published.
ExhibitsFiled or admitted material whose custody, return, restriction, or sealing is case-specific.

The public portal does not guarantee financial data. An amount in controversy, a current balance, fees, or costs cannot be inferred from an incomplete case screen. Ask the clerk for the precise record that carries the number you need.

Union County Court Records in Bulk

Bulk data takes a different route from any single case. The Arkansas Administrative Office of the Courts data-request program supplies compiled court information for scholarly, journalistic, political, governmental, research, or statistical purposes under Administrative Order 19. The official instructions lay out the statewide path for compiled data.

Do not use that route for one Union County order or judgment. A single-case requester should deal with the proper local clerk. Compiled requests for individually identifiable or normally excluded material may require an affidavit, license agreement, and performance bond. The linked compiled-information request form asks for your contact details. It needs a detailed explanation of the project. It asks whether identifying specific individuals is essential. The form shows the scope of a compiled-data request rather than a local case-search screen.

Use the form only for a true compilation. A single case number and entry date still belong with the Union County clerk who keeps that file.

Copy Fees and Certification

Copies come in three grades. A plain copy just reproduces the record. A certified copy adds the clerk’s authentication. An authenticated copy carries the further formal level listed by the Circuit Clerk. Union County publishes fee amounts, but the copy lines sit inside a recording-fee block, so the court-document application is not fully spelled out. Ask the clerk to confirm the price for your exact case record, the unit charged, and any delivery cost.

Published ItemAmount
Plain copy, listed under Circuit Clerk recording fees$0.50 per page
Certified copy, Circuit Clerk listing$5
Authenticated copy, Circuit Clerk listing$15
Certified or sealed County Clerk document$5
Small-estate affidavit plus certification$25 plus $5

Before you pay anything, ask the clerk how certification is charged. It may be priced per document, per request, or with other add-ons. The Union County courts publish no checkout page for court records. They post no fee list for copies either. Nor is there a mail-order form with a turnaround promise. So get a phone quote from the custodian first.

Union County Court Records Without PDFs

A docket entry with no document link can still point to a real filing. Search ARCourts notes that some public filings are linked. It does not promise that every filing has been scanned for download. The gap has ordinary causes. Older material, thin electronic content, a District Court that does not take part, access limits, or a search that simply missed.

Write down the case number, the court, the docket sequence, the filing date, the code, and the description. Then call the right Union County custodian. Name the document you want, whether a complaint, order, judgment, or docket sheet. Ask if it exists and if it is public. Ask whether it sits on paper or in an electronic file. The clerk has no published archive cutoff, microfilm range, offsite-storage procedure, or public terminal to check against. Confirm each of those points by phone.

Note: When no image appears online, that does not mean the Union County clerk cannot give you the filed document.

Access Rules for Court Records

Administrative Order 19 is Arkansas's main rule on access to court records. It carves out anything made confidential. Federal law, Arkansas law, court order, or court rule can be the source. Social Security numbers get shielded. So do certain financial account and PIN details. Sealed or expunged case information stays out too. So do judicial and juror deliberative material and some protected addresses. That is why a public Union County case may still show redactions or missing documents.

Key Rules:

Arkansas Administrative Order 19 controls public court-record access and its exclusions.

Ark. Code §§ 16-90-1401 et seq. governs criminal record sealing.

Ark. Code § 9-27-309 provides confidentiality rules for juvenile records.

Arkansas FOIA, Ark. Code §§ 25-19-101 et seq. reaches many government records, yet it cannot override the judiciary's own access rules. Filing electronically under Administrative Order 21 changes nothing either. Confidential material stays confidential.

Union County Court Record Checklist

Five questions will sharpen any Union County court record request. Which clerk holds the case? Do you want the docket, a filed document, a transcript, or an exhibit? Will a plain copy do, or do you need certification? What does the total cost come to after page count and authentication? Which delivery and payment methods will this clerk accept?

Never send money off a general fee table alone. Confirm access, the exact amount, and the accepted method first. For a transcript, reach the assigned court reporter. For a compiled dataset, go through the AOC process. For one case file, start with the local custodian. Begin from the exact docket entry. That keeps Union County court case records tied to one office. Only that office can verify and authenticate them.

A search can locate the record, but the clerk keeps the original. If you need the case number before ordering, try the Union County Docket Search.
